U14 Girls end season on a high!

A super team performance saw the u14 girls come back to win 2-1 with a thrilling last twenty minutes that saw goals from Izzy L and the winner from Zoe P.

Romsey had to be at their best in a tight match but with great individual performances and more importantly a super team performance they won through.

Well done girls a super end to the season!

Players of the match   Isla M-W and Harriet F , well done!

Thanks to Elaine Gibson for umpiring this season , brilliant!

U16 girls give 100% and more!

U16 girls produced a battling performance against a very good Andover side filled with Performance Centre and County girls. The 9-1 loss as their coaches said “was not a reflection of the game”.

Playing with only two recognised defenders to begin with then losing one to injury didn’t stop the girls and heads remained high,on a number of occasions they worried the Andover goal and on a different day a few more would have gone in.

A super short corner routine with Olivia slotting home a powerful shot proved to be the only goal for Romsey but a super team performance all round!

Well done all!

M3s & 4s Have a pre Christmas Run-about!

Men’s 3 & 4s play out an entertaining end to end match

A nice opportunity to get a run out before Christmas for young and old.

Some great play from both teams with plenty of good goals!

So much so we lost count 😂

Merry Christmas all🎄🏑

Bad weather protocols

We have reached that time of year when bad weather, particularly freezing temperatures, can cause us to have to cancel training sessions and matches.

To try and ensure that we do not cancel unnecessarily we try and make decisions as late as possible – unless it is obvious!

Please keep an eye on Teamo for any updates – assume sessions are going ahead as planned unless the status of an event is updated.

Away day success for the u14 Girls!

The u14 girls had a super first match back post 2nd lock down, a cold crisp but sunny day saw them start very brightly and take the game to Winchester and soon they got their reward with a nicely taken goal from Isla on her debut for the u14s.

Winchester came back well and the rest of the half was far more even and both teams playing well and just before the half Winchester pinched an equaliser.

Romsey came out in the second half and although they had many players playing out of position their teamwork and attitude was first class! They had moved up a gear and the forward and midfield press was too much for Winchester to contain.

Four excellent second half goals followed from Immi x2 , Zoe and Harriet to cap off a fine team display.

A great effort all round girls well done!

Player of the match – Isla , a super debut in midfield.

Mention in dispatches – Isobel L & Hattie K , playing out of usual positions making it look easy! well done.

U12 Girls Hat-Trick Win against Winchester

On a cold crisp morning Romsey U12 Girls travelled to Winchester.

The team looked strong from the outset with nearly the entire first third being played in the Winchester half. Fantastic attacking runs and crosses coming from Elsie on the right wing supported by Caitlin saw a few chances on goal, all frustrated by excellent saves from the Winchester keeper.

The second third opened with more fast paced runs followed by accurate crossing from Hannah that forced errors in the Winchester defence creating opportunities for Camilla and Grace. Finally Clara picked out Grace with a laser accurate pass from midfield, Grace then beat a Winchester defender and the goalkeeper to open the scoring tally.

The last third of the game opened with Grace’s second, calmly scored from a rebounded save. As the team began to tire Winchester managed a few attacking runs into the Romsey half, all of which were quickly shut down and cleared by some great defensive team work, special mention to Clara and Maya for cool heads under pressure. Grace completed her hat-trick having been fed by a great pass from Caitlin. A final chance from a Winchester short corner was quickly smothered and cleared by some fantastic defensive team work.

A real team effort from everyone today, well done girls!

Super Away Day Draw for u16 Girls!

The u16 Girls gave the travelling support something to cheer with a great 2-2 draw which had everything, super defending , great attacking and an excellent debut performance by the keeper Ellie G

Hannah P got the show on the road with a well worked and practiced short corner which she struck sweetly to give the keeper no chance.

Fleet drew level just before half time , this did not stop the girls pushing on though and they grabbed another midway through the second half with a lovey front to back move and super reverse stick finish from Amelia B.

Fleet kept going and despite a string of saves and super defending got their equaliser with 10 mins to spare.

A super draw for both teams after a thoroughly entertaining match and a real Romsey team performance to be proud of.

Player of the match – Hannah P ,super defending and well struck goal.

Battling U16 girl’s performance earns huge praise!

U16 girls played Petersfield on Sunday the 18th of Oct at Romsey school.

They were facing a very strong Petersfield team and spent most of the first half with their backs to the wall. It has to be said it was some of the most resolute defending I have witnessed from a junior team.

The girls almost made it to half time with honours even but with two minutes to go Petersfield made an attack count and scored!

The girls came out for the second half and gave it a really good go and pulled a goal back within the first 10 mins , a lovey finish from Evelyn!

Romsey were on top and a cry from the Petersfield coach could be heard” They want it more”
Romsey had a couple of other near misses and put everything into the first 20 mins of the second half but eventually Petersfield got on top and scored several goals towards the end of the match.

This did not dampen spirits as the girls knew they had given their best and warranted huge praise.

On a sad note unfortunately Charlotte R had a nasty injury which will see her laid up for a while, but the team all wish her a speedy recovery!

Player of the match – Hannah P , a captain’s performance in defence!

U14 girls back with a bang!

U14 girls stunned Petersfield with a faultless performance scoring 11 goals and conceding none!

Right from the start they hungry for the ball and did not give their opponents time to dwell ,the goals were shared around the team but there were two hattrick’s one for Imogen Ackerman and one for Rosie Brook.

When Petersfield had their chances Romsey’s defence had remained disciplined and snuffed out any chances and if they got through Ellie was there to save or kick away.

A truly dominant performance which Petersfield had no answer for.

Player of the match -Imogen Ackerman, precise goal scoring!

U16Bs share the spoils in Petersfield

This was an evenly fought match with both sides earning the well deserved draw.

The opposition started strongly with much of the early possession which led to two early goals. Romsey’s response was immediate. They attacked with vigour and finally got their reward late in the half. Lorne played a long ball from his own half to Tom who controlled with one touch and smashed the ball home and soon it was two. Jack M dribbled into the D and laid off to Ben who struck the ball home.

The second half was end to end stuff with Ollie making two fine saves and the defence of Will, Owen and Barry standing firm time and time again.

Late in the half Petersfield again scored two in the space of two attacks but that had the usual effect when Romsey, playing with the bare eleven stepping up another gear. Jack S created two chances before playing a lovely ball into Ellison, he nudged on to Lorne who neatly stabbed home.

Next it was Harry winning the ball in his own half and playing up to Ben, he danced into the D before being fouled to the ground . From a short corner Ben was fouled again, this time being awarded a penalty flick, that he coolly converted.
