L1s share 9 goals with Hamble

Romsey Ladies 1s played away at Hamble in a 9 goal thriller!

Hamble took an early lead, but Romsey responded with an excellent counterattack using their pace to score in the 7th minute with a goal from Olingschlaeger, assisted by Player of the Match: Jenner.

Soon after, Jenner passed to Olingschlaeger, who took it round two defenders before having a shot on goal. Hamble’s goalkeeper made a great save but Williams was quick to respond with a rebound shot and scored at an acute angle. A perfect finish, which gave Romsey a 1-2 lead.

Jenner scored Romsey’s third goal, from a rebound shot from Olingschlaeger, who turned over the ball from a Hamble free hit. Romsey’s defensive unit made some great tackles but, Hamble came back to score. Romsey were winning 2-3 at the half time break.

In the second half, Hamble scored 2 early goals to take a 4-3 lead. With the fight still on and Romsey determined to take home 3 points the whole team dug deep and continued with their attacking play. Not to be beaten, Romsey took a 4-5 lead after scoring two goals in close succession.

Katie R scored her first goal for Romsey Ladies 1s managing to get on the end of a hit from Drake. Romsey won a short corner, which Jenner scored from a straight strike. Jenner’s rarely seen goal celebration showed how much a win meant to Romsey.

Hamble kept on the attack but Romsey’s defence held strong despite multiple short corners being awarded to Hamble in the dying minutes of the game.

Today was a triumphant win for Romsey, a fantastic team performance.

A Super Sunny Sunday for u12 boys

The under 12 boys played two matches this Sunday in glorious sunshine, the first match was a tough game against Bournemouth’s top team and a loss of 7-3 was a little harsh, the Bournemouth keeper made some fine saves.

The second match however was a win against Basingstoke A 3-2 and a great team performance.  In both matches the boys displayed some super skills and a possible goal of the season contender from Zach W that has the crowd applauding loudly!

Well done boys , and good luck next week at the in2 hockey tournament.

Soggy U16 Girls in Southampton

The under 16 girls played a well contested match in Southampton this Sunday in very soggy conditions. This did not stop them giving 100% and playing some super hockey that was not always rewarded.

Although Romsey lost 4-1 the match was evenly fought and without their keeper Southampton may have have seen a different result!

Isobel R scored in consecutive games and almost had a second which would have made the last quarter very interesting.

Well done girls and thanks to those playing up, a great effort all round!

Under 14 Girls Jump for Joy!

The under 14 girls were jumping for joy this Sunday after they beat Trojans in a tightly fought match winning 1-0.

This leaves them undefeated all season scoring 29 goals and only conceding 4 goals since September!

The girls had to work really hard all match with the Trojans keeper making some super saves but eventually Romsey broke the deadlock with Ruby W picking up a rebound from the keeper to calmly slot home.

A super team effort, great defending and some vital saves from Ellie G kept Trojans out in a tense match.

Well done girls almost there!

U14 Girls take it to the next level!

The u14 girls played Petersfield on Sunday in the top of the table clash.

Supported by a big crowd they did not hold back and very quickly put Petersfield under pressure and were awarded a penalty flick in the first 5 minutes which was calmly scored by Harriet F.

Alisa S shortly after scored a fine second goal to give Romsey the half time lead 2-0.

The second half saw Romsey take it to the next level!

They did not allow Petersfield time on the ball and the pressing and support for each other was superb!

Alisa S working hard up front completed her hatrick and further goals from Harriet F, Isla MW and Ava L saw the final score of 7-0.

A super game to watch which was played in great spirit by both teams.

Well done all! Romsey u14 Girls are now within sight of winning their league!

Highly deserved win for U16 Girls

The under 16 girls put on a fantastic display to beat Winchester 2-1 on Sunday.

Some brilliant counter attacking hockey saw them create several chances in the first half with one calmly taken by Grace G to give Romsey the lead at half-time.

The girls defended incredibly well throughout the whole game and were able to get a second goal scored by Isobel R after a lovely move to make it 2-0 early in the second half.

Winchester eventually scored in the last minute but it did not take the shine of a fantastic win for the girls. Well done all, a great team effort!

Player of the match – Grace G , a well taken goal and lovely skills.

Under 16 Girls prove tough opposition for Basingstoke

Although the girls lost 2-0 the score line did not tell the full story.

The team with 3 younger girls playing up put on a super battling performance in a match where they could have scored two or three goals themselves with one shot agonisingly grazing the post.

A 0-0 second half ensured Basingstoke got the points but a super effort all-round, well done girls!
