2020 End of Season Awards

A couple more winners were added to the list tonight at the junior small group sessions

Penne Edwards Award – Simeon Field
Stuart Robertson Award – Noah Cooper

Well done to all of the winners – there are still a few more which will be announced over the next couple of days.

2020 End of Season Awards

With the season sadly shortened and the chances of holding an End of Season Party seriously in the balance we decided to start presenting some of the awards for last season.

With the small group sessions proving extremely popular with over 130 members engaging on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings we thought it would be a good idea to present awards to the winners who are attending the sessions regularly.

So….. here we go:

Ladies 1s Winner – Gemma Brown
Ladies 2s Joint Winners – Lisa Morgan and Maree Welch
Ladies 4s Winner – Clare Cooper
Men’s 4s Winner – Ollie O’Hara
Men’s 3s Winner – Ollie Gage
Sue Darch Shield – Alex Orak
Penne Edwards Award – Amy Edwards

Coaching and Training Changes for the 2020-2021 Season

All club members

After careful consideration we have altered the coaching programme for the 2020-2021 season as follows:

TimeTuesdayWednesdayThursday
18:00-19:30U12 & U14 Boys Tom Wigley (U14), Noah Cooper (U12), Morgan Robertson (U12)U12 & U14 Girls Simeon Field (U14) Natlie Jupp (U12)Occasional extra squad sessions and specialist sessions for GK etc.
19:30-21:00Mens 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, U16 Boys
Stuart Robertson, Lewis Birch, Simeon Field
Ladies 3s, 4s, U16 Girls
Amy Edwards, Hilary Andrews
Ladies 1s, 2s, U16 Girls
Jim East

As you will see we are heavily dependent on club players volunteering to coach so we have had to shift the ladies 3s and 4s to achieve this. We do apologise and thank the ladies for supporting this.

We have moved the Men’s and U12, U14 and U16 boys training due to the links we are developing with Winchester University as this will help increase their participation at training and hopefully throughout our club.

There is an additional session on a Thursday should there be a need for teams to have additional coaching and for specialist sessions for GKs and so on.

Under 16 Girls are able to decide which session they attend based on the senior team they play for and their friendship groups.

We sincerely hope that these changes won’t have a huge impact on you and your family and we look forward to the 2020-2021 season.

Kind Regards

RHC Committee

Blast from the past!

We don’t have many old club pictures but apparently this is the club’s entry into the town’s 1980 bed race! Does anyone recognise the faces?

Let’s get back to playing hockey!

SMALL GROUP TRAINING SESSIONS

Following the recent updates from the government and guidance from England Hockey with regards to groups of up to 6 players, social distancing, being allowed to play in the same pitch zone, we are pleased to announce that we will begin to run some small group coached sessions.

The first couple will be taster sessions to gauge demand. If there is enough interest, we will expand the programme and start to run some regular training and free play sessions.

  • We will run sessions with 4 or 5 players per group in a quarter of the pitch, depending on the availability of goal keepers, and allowing for the coach to enter the zone.
  • All players/coaches must stay 2 metres apart at all times and follow the published Club protocol.
  • The club’s COVID-19 protocol is published on the website and available on Teamo via the session entries in the calendar.
  • Sessions will work on technical, individual skills and techniques.
  • Balls will be provided by the club and must not be touched by anyone other than the coach in charge. The balls will be cleaned after each session.
  • There will be anti-bacterial hand wash available at the pitch entrance. All players should wash their hands before and after the session.
  • Each group of 4 or 5 players will be asked to arrive at a staggered interval so that there is no over-crowding at the entrance. Please wait in your car until the time you have been allocated to arrive.
  • We will operate the following sessions: –
  • Tuesday 16th, 23rd, 30th June – 18:00 to 21:00 – Adult players – men, ladies, u16s and those playing adult league hockey.
  • Wednesday 17th, 24th June, 1st July – 18:00 to 21:00 – U12 and U14 Boys and Girls.
  • Note that we are going to be using the age group squads for the season just finished.
  • All sessions will be one hour and you must email your bookings to [email protected]. Your booking is not confirmed until you have had it confirmed by email. Your start time will be confirmed by email. Please also advise if you have any particular requests. We will try and allocate players to groups of similar ability and squad.
  • Initially we will not be running any sessions for school year 6 or below. We will review this in due course and consider the latest government and England Hockey. We will make announcements if the situation changes.
  • Initially sessions will be free and on a first come first serve basis.

RHC Virtual Fitness Sessions

Our very own Tim Bailey will be running our first virtual fitness session next Wednesday evening on Zoom!!
Open to all senior players, the session is suitable for everyone and will help to make sure that we are ready for the season, whenever it starts!
